Joseph Pilates invented specialized Pilates equipment to help give his clients feedback. The equipment is designed to either help to make an exercise easier or harder.
Using springs and your own body weight to add resistance to exercises. We never use excessive weight or too many repetitions, as we are looking for quality over quantity, less is more. Both concentric and eccentric use of the muscles is paramount to what makes Pilates exercises unique. Pilates aids with proprioception (finding your positioning in space) and balance. What you learn with us, you take with you, and will soon be on your way to correcting your own posture and alignment. |
Private Pilates
Private In-Studio Pilates SessionsIn a Private Pilates Session with Alaria you will discuss your history and what your exercise goals are. Your posture will be assessed and you will learn the Basic Principles of STOTT PILATES, alignment and breath techniques.
Pilates breath technique and movements are precise and take time to learn, you can expect the first session to be very educational. |

Therapeutic Pilates: Post Rehabilitation
A bridge between Physical Rehabilitation and Group Classes of any kind
Post-Rehabilitation means - after you have been ok'd by your Doctor or Physiotherapist to resume exercise after an injury or surgery.
We deal with many special conditions such as Osteo or Rheumatoid Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Osteoporosis, Brain Injury, MS etc. Special conditions require special care, we can help you to feel more confident, more secure and more able to do all kinds of activities you may have thought you were unable to do. With your permission we may consult with your healthcare professional and work as a team to get you moving and feeling better again. |
Your Private Session might include some Pilates, Yoga and/or Somatic Movement suggestions based on your immediate needs.
Alaria Ritchie is a recognized Post-Rehabilitation Specialist through STOTT PILATES and has worked in the Rehabilitation field for over a decade.
Private Pilates may be covered under your Private Health Insurance Plan, contact your health insurance provider to see if this may be an option for you. If you have an allowance for a gym membership than this might be an option for you.
