Yoga

Our Yoga classes are Hatha and Viniyoga based – we approach all of our yoga classes with trauma sensitivity and use choice to develop a positive experience for all.  We incorporate asana (yoga poses), pranayama (breath practices) and meditation practices (relaxation and clarity for the mind). As well as mantra (repetition of words or chant), mudra (hand positions), and sound!

Our goal within our yoga teaching is to present it as authentically as we can, honouring yogic tradition, heritage and Indian culture.  You can expect to hear Sanscrit words, terms and phrases, themes directly from the Yoga Sutras and the 8-limbs of yoga.

Yoga Flow - In this Vinyasa style class we will focus on flowing with breath, synchronizing physical postures with inhales and exhales. Flow classes are designed to gently cultivate heat in the body with creative sequences, sun salutations, standing and seated postures. The flowing asanas may be combined with some longer holds of certain postures to help develop a more balanced body as well as prevent repetitive motion injuries that can happen if you are always doing the same thing every day.
Yoga - A traditional Hatha Yoga class, taught in a progressive style, includes philosophy, asana, pranayama and meditation.
Gentle Slow Flow Yoga - Awaken your body and mind in this gentle Hatha flow class.  A combination of movement and restful poses will help to balance your mind, body, and heart.
Yoga Calm - Our signature CALM class. Yoga that calms the nervous system can help us to heal.  In this healing, trauma informed class, we explore techniques to help you feel better in your body. Perfectly suited to those with Therapeutic needs.  A combination of Somatic Embodiment and Release, Gentle Yoga and Pranayama (breathwork).  Soothe your everyday, chronic aches and pains, gain valuable tools for transformation.
Restorative Yoga - Indulge yourself while reaping the benefits of a restorative class both mentally and physically.  This practice focusses on long holds, stillness and deep breathing.  A gentle floor based yoga that uses bolsters, blankets and props.  Encourages physical, mental and emotional relaxation.  Perfect for all levels of experience.  What better way to recharge your batteries than with a little “you” time.

Somatic Movement

Somatic Movement classes are based in the tradition of Thomas Hanna and Hanna Somatic Education®. Somatic practices are widely renowned in helping people to regain freedom from aches and pains in their bodies.  Through motor-sensory actions/exercises we can learn to turn down the tension in our bodies.  Brain body work that will change the way you look at life.
