What is Somatic Movement?
Somatic movement is an awareness based and holistic movement practice. Based in your first-person experience of your living physical organism (commonly thought of as only your body), thoughts, emotions and connection to Self or Spirit. Somatic practices help you to notice and release tension which causes pain, process emotions, and restore your innate connection to deep rest, safety, peace and therefore healing.

Hanna Somatic Education® is a Clinical Somatic practice originating in the 1970’s which is used primarily for helping people relieve long held tension (chronic pain), reclaim their ease of movement and posture, addresses anxiety from the bottom up, regulate your nervous system, aid in trouble sleeping, and helps with respiratory problems.
Your Somatic Movement Facilitator: Alaria Ritchie

Alaria Ritchie CHSE® is a Certified Hanna Somatic Educator. She certified from the 3yr program in 2021 to bring Somatic Movement and Healing to Northumberland County and beyond.

Pilates Day is a day to bring awareness of the Pilates Method to you!
I can’t tell you how many times I have heard Pilates what? People are still not sure what Pilates is or why we would do it!
Pilates is an amazing fitness method that brings together mind and body, with its principles rooted in alignment, focus and control, it’s no wonder fitness enthusiasts are picking it up as part of their daily workout add on.
If you have heard about core training, no need to go further, Pilates teaches you how to engage your core the way nature intended.
We love our community and want to share the joy of Pilates with you!
